HOC Roast- 24 July 2011

Rachel had the great idea for this years HOC roast to get together and have a BBQ. After a bit of investigation the Crickley Hill Country Park was selected as the venue. For anyone who has not been this is a great venue, fantastic views and BBQ's a plenty to take your own coals and cook away.

The invite to join us went far and wide, we were lucky enough to have members from Wales, Gloucester, Bristol, Oxford and Wiltshire turn up on what turned out to be a summers day between the wet and windy July to date. 56 people in total ate and chatted in what turned out to be a cracking day.

The rabble set off from the Swan as usual, Colleen, Bryan, Ian and Angie, Terry, Taz and Belinda, Mike and Bernadette, Tom, Roger, Dave and Edith, 9 bikes in total. We rode down to Marlborough for a coffee and chat while we waited for the Wiltshire and Oxford bikes to arrive. The ride to Crickley Hill was almost uneventful, apart from Dave having his now customary break down on route. this time he even managed to arrange it with Edith on the bike. All part of the plan to aquire a new bike. Bob and Rachel, Alan and Ann, Steve and Hazel were all there ready and waiting for us with the BBQ all fired up and ready.

After much food and chat we all set off home, I am sure we will use the site again. It was great to see so many people turn up, many thanks to Rachel for the idea, and all the other branches for turning up and making it a great day for all.
