BBQ and Charity Auction - 09.09.09
On Wednesday 9th September we celebrated the branch's first birthday with a BBQ at The Swan which featured a charity auction with proceeds being donated to our adopted charity, the Sue Ryder Care facility at Nettlebed. We had always planned to have a BBQ on this date but with the donation of some superb clothing samples from the T Shirt Studio, we decided to hold a charity auction as well. We had to run around a bit and find some more items for the auction fairly quickly but we ended up with 22 lots by the start of the evening,
We had invited guests from some of our neighbouring branch's and were pleased to welcome visitors from Oxford, Solent, Wiltshire, West London and Northants & Milton Keynes. Once again we were treated to a very good BBQ by Vic and Jenny of The Swan and everyone seemed suitably nourished.
The auction was a great success raising over £325 for Sue Ryder. Jo Read gratefully accepted the donation on behalf of the charity, Personally I would like to thank all who donated items for the auction without whom it would not have been possible.
